I don’t know how you’ve already grown so much.
I’m with you every day—
how’d you grow before me?
Becoming this little—
beautiful, bold, sweet…
yet sassy little girl.
I’m just trying to find a minute to use the restroom.
How’d your hair grow so long?
I’m just trying to sneak a quick shower.
How’d you grow so tall?
I’m just trying to grab a bite to eat.
How’d your chubby baby cheeks disappear?
I was so busy raising you…
I didn’t notice you were growing.
I was just carrying you everywhere I went—
pressed against my chest,
tiny in my arms.
Now I’m running after you
while you walk around
so proud,
so independent.
And every now and then
you come running back to me
with those little arms open wide—
“MOMMY!”
And in that moment…
I remember—
I don’t know how you’ve already grown so much.
